Pink powderpuff flowers

Calliandra emarginata or commonly known as the Powderpuff plant, They are low branching shrub or small trees with multiple trunks, it can grow up to a height of 15 feet, but we often see them about 6-7 ft growing by the road side, or near the playground in HDB area. They are very popular trees in Singapore.

Showy pink flowers, pleasant fragrance, like a powder puff. They are one of my favorite flowers when I was a kid, I always played with the flowers to make fun of my classmates, some of my classmates were afraid of the itch when I used the flowers to tickle them.
One interesting fact about leaves of that plant, like any Calliandra plants, they are closed for night, like butterfly wings, and reopen in the daytime.
