Today’s Flowers-Calathea

There are many plant species in the Calathea plant family. This is Calathea Zebrina with beautiful, velvety foliage. It is commonly known as zebra plant. this name is based on the zebra stripped leaves. It can be grown in a regular potting mix. keep it evenly moist but not wet. Please avoid direct sunlight, too much sun can cause leaf burn. This plant requires a bit more care, and it only produces flowers once in two years time, at least to my this potted Calathea Zebrina. But I appreciate the dark green leaves very much.

A gorgeous photo!
Love the compact blooms. It's a shame it only blooms once in two years - it sure is beautiful.

Very nice. There are several of these at work. They have never bloomed (seven years, at least) so it was nice to see the flower.

I remember this plant. You make me miss my plants in Singapore. 16 years they were like my babies. My German friend who bought some of my plants asked if it was heartache giving them up. I said yes, but I was leaving and it was all for a good cause.
even the garden Centre girls and man were my friends. If you go to Kuoon Li, ask for Ah Lai, ask ask him about the two middle aged aunties.
