Nonya Cooking Ingredient - Bunga Telang

A lot of flowers like Chrysanthemum and Marigold  are edible in such that you can make tea or salad from their petals. Some other flowers are also edible, such as Blue Pea flowers, but by extracting the blue colour from its flower to make desserts or drinks. cakes.
The Blue Pea Flower ,  also popularly known as Bunga Telang(in Malay), also called Butterfly Pea, is a common ingredient used as natural food dye for making nonya kuehs.
The Bunga Telang is a fast tropical climber plant, easily grown in tropical collimate. Blue Pea Flower that grows from a creeper plant blooms in only 6 weeks from seed and it bloom all year long. Blue Pea Flower like a rich, moist soil. Keep the soil evenly moist at all times. It needs intermediate temperatures, but it can stands up well in our hot Asia temperatures. It needs full sun to partial shade, it likes to be shaded from the hot afternoon sun. The plants tend to get leggy very quickly, so pinching helps to keep it bushy.

Most of the time I see the blue colour flowers, Blue Pea Flowers  I am surprised to see the light purple flowers today in Sentosa...

I would love to plant this flower in my yard to cover the fence. Could you tell me where can I obtain it? Would I be able to find it in nusery along Thomson Road?

Hi Danny, I don't think find it in nursery along Thomson Road. But this is quite common plants you can find them just by the road side, it grows from seeds, I have collected many seeds, will give out free...I am not able to contact you, so please leave a message here...
