Today's Flowers: Hot Pink Water Lily

Nymphaeaceae is a family of flowering plants. Members of this family are commonly called water lilies and live as rhizomatous aquatic herbs in temperate and tropical climates around the world.

They are one of the most easily recognized of all the aquatic plants. Beautiful large flowers float on the water's surface surrounded by large,
rounded, variously notched, waxy-coated leaves on long stalks that contain many air spaces and float in quiet freshwater habitats.

The showy, fragrant, solitary flowers are borne at or above the water surface on long stalks that are attached to the underground stems.
The flowers may float or stick above the water and each opens in the morning and closes in the afternoon, with nice fragrant.
